Zoo trip

Jon's work gave him the option of taking off Wednesday or a different day for the holiday. We chose Friday. We went out to breakfast together as a family and then used our season passes to go to the zoo (I just renewed our passes, and found a coupon in our water bill for $15 off that I was able to use!) Here are a few pictures from our day.

We spent a quarter and bought some fish food for Ainsley to feed to the fish. That is one of her favorite things at the zoo. Even when we don't spend a quarter, she looks around for pieces of food that have fallen and gathers them up and feed them to the fish.

The trainers were with the elephants when we got there, and had them do a trick to go up on their hind legs. Then the trainers fed them some hay. The elephants were also picking up dirt with their trunks and throwing it on their backs. Ainsley thought that was funny.

I can't remember what these birds were called, but you could actually go into the exhibit. A man gave us the rest of his nectar that he had bought, and the birds flew onto our arms to eat it. Ainsley was standing under them and (you guessed it!) one went to the bathroom on her. I took her out of the exhibit to get her arm cleaned off. I was wondering why she was so calm about it, and then she asked, "Mommy, did that bird spit his food on me?" I said, "Maybe, but he might have gone to the bathroom on you." She still did fine, and we got her cleaned up.
