Christmas Party

Some of our friends, Andy & Lisa, hosted a "kids-free" Christmas party this year. Jon and I rarely get out just the two of us, so this was exciting! Special thanks to Barry & Carolyn for watching the kids for us! We couldn't have gone without your help!
At the party, we had a white-elephant gift exchange. The item had to be one you already had at home. We came home with a puzzle and some coasters that look like a mini chest of drawers. We definitely fared better than some! The fun is mostly in the stealing (if it isn't happening to you) and the surprise of opening the gifts. Ainsley has been helping to put together the puzzle.
They had Moe's catered for dinner--really yummy fajitas! I (and several other moms and dads) took a few minutes to realize that all I had to do was get my own food, and then sit down and eat it! Usually I spend 15 minutes getting 2 kid plates ready, then eat my own food standing up! Even though I really don't think about it or mind doing it, it was nice to have the break!
The neatest thing they did was that they had everyone write on a card something they would be willing to do for someone else. Then we did the same gift exchange game as earlier. Jon and I ended up with 2 babysitting cards--woohoo! Jon offered computer technical support, and I will be making a meal for John & Jaime in the near future.

Mary and I were THRILLED to come away with babysitting for you and Jon. Your kids are perfect angels and Mary and I look forward to playing with them some night while you and Jon go out on the town. Just let us know when you want to redeem your gift! A week or two notice would be good... Mary's in dissertation mode, so we have to plan accordingly. And I don't think you'd want me babysitting the kids by myself. While the kids and I would LOVE it... a few things might get broken and we might draw on the walls. If you're okay with that, then I'll be right over!
