Well, time flies, and Ainsley has turned 6! We celebrated with a Star Wars birthday party (her request) in the gym at the church building. It was fun to prepare for, and I think Ainsley (and her friends) really enjoyed themselves.
The invitations were on black card stock. We printed the text 4-to-a-sheet at Office Depot, and glued it on.
I made the cake with a light and dark side. (Please ignore the unpacked boxes in the background. Thank you!)
The figures were part of her present. We had a hard time standing them up, so a few of them ended up knee deep in frosting. :-)
Food table:
We set up several activity tables, although these didn’t get used too much.
You can see on the left of the above picture, we had light sabers as party favors. We used pool noodles cut in half and colored duct tape to make them. We put on the black and some silver duct tape for the handle (hilt?) and the kids got to decorate them with duct tape and markers. (I wouldn’t recommend the markers except to write names on them as the ink didn’t set very well.)
Jon made a tunnel with our tarp and some chairs. We also rented a bounce house. Jon took the kids around in teams on a sort of challenge exercise to earn their light sabers.
Blowing out the candles:
Happy birthday, Ainsley!
