The kids and I were able to make a trip to see uncle Nabil, aunt Kelly, and cousin Laila this summer. Jon didn’t have enough vacation days to do that and go to CT, too, so he had to stay home (we missed him!)
Here are Ainsley and Asher preparing Laila’s first birthday gift.
Laila playing with some blocks. Isn’t she cute!
Laila and her grandmother dressed up for Laila’s party at the beach
I didn’t get very many pictures at the beach—it is hard to watch two kids in the water by yourself! Ainsley liked riding the waves.
Ainsley feeding Laila
Asher couldn’t understand that babies touch things and put them in their mouths. He kept telling Laila not to knock over his towers. Here he is making a creation safely behind the baby gate.
We got to go to some fun places while we were there. Here is the Children's Museum of the Low Country. Thanks to Courtney for sharing this idea (and a few others).
The Charleston market (in the museum)
Ainsley really liked the art part. They had all sorts of materials that the kid’s could create with.
It took Asher a few minutes to warm up to the idea, but he ended up really enjoying himself in the art section, too.
King Asher
Afterwards, we ate a late lunch at The Buccanneer. (Don’t listen to the people at the visitor center who say you can walk there! I am so glad we bailed and got in the car!)
Pirates, beware!!
The next day we went to my favorite, the South Carolina Aquarium.
The kids at the touch pool. I think this was their favorite part.
View of the Cooper River Bridge from the aquarium
We played mini golf at Blackbeard's Cove. The kids like mini golf, especially Asher, but they do a lot of “guiding” the ball in. It is funny. It was very hot to be outside, but they had a good time.
I love this picture of Ainsley and Laila!
The three cousins.
Thanks, Nabil & Kelly, for hosting us. We are so glad we got to visit with you!
