The kids and I took advantage of our homeschool flexibility and a sale on Southwest airlines and took a trip to see Grandpa and Grandma. We got to see the tail-end of their garden—I think Ainsley found 3 blackberries—and we ate the last of the corn.
Ainsley found a squash and picked a triple onion.
The kids had a great time playing with our old toys and books. Ainsley liked listening to books on tape. I find it funny—neither Ainsley nor Asher understand the concepts of “rewind” or “2-sided”. Asher liked (liked is an understatement!) playing Sonic the Hedgehog on our old Sega Genesis.
The reason we chose this time to visit was because there was a big 50th anniversary celebration for the congregation I grew up in. My mom was the planner, and many people helped it happen. It went very well! It was really special to see people we hadn’t seen in a long time and to reminisce. Here are the kids on the only Sunday we were there:
The kids really wanted to swim, so we went down to the lake. It was cool, but Ainsley and Asher didn’t mind!
On Friday, Dad built a fire in the outdoor fireplace. The kids liked that—Asher even said he liked it better than video games!
We took 2 day trips while we were up there—more on that in another post!
Asher’s face in this picture cracks me up! Can you tell I am raising a kid from Arkansas? He thought it was cold!
Thanks for hosting us Grandpa and Grandma!
