Mommy/Ainsley Day

On Tuesday mornings, I keep Ainsley home from her Montessori school, and Asher goes to his mother's day out. I really enjoy getting to spend some alone time with Ainsley, and she enjoys having my undivided attention.
This past Tuesday was the first week of the Farmer's Market--an event I have much anticipated. Ainsley and I headed down there. Many of the things that I like to buy are not in season yet in Arkansas (particularly the tomatoes and the basil), but we found some yummy things to get. We got some Arkansas strawberries, some corn on the cob (from Georgia), some leeks (I have never bought these before--they were HUGE!), some mint, some cilantro, and some bok choy with flowers. I felt very domestic Tuesday and Wednesday. I made some iced tea with mint, some salsa with cilantro, steamed corn on the cob, and some really yummy rice with bok choy (including the edible flowers), leeks, and garlic. The rice looked so yummy I had to take a picture. It tasted really yummy, too!
Besides getting corn, the thing Ainsley wanted to do most was to see this River Market Pig (see statue in the below picture). There are fish in the little pool.
After we put our produce in the van, I noticed it was close to 11 AM--when the Peabody Ducks come out. So we walked the few blocks and watched the procession.
In other Ainsley news, her favorite pastime of late is to collect caterpillars from our yard. Here is the initial collection. It has since moved to the great bug habitat from Aunt Charlotte and Uncle Randy. Ainsley is now the proud owner of about 4 or 5 chrysalises. We'll see what happens--I have my doubts that they will make it because we didn't feed the caterpillars, and they spent a few hours baking in the sun one day before I noticed. :-)
Ainsley's school year will finish in a little over 2 weeks. I am amazed and proud of all the things she has accomplished this year.

Nathan caught some caterpillars out at our teammates house and we brought them home, made them homes out of jars and waited... they made cocoons and everything and after the exciting wait for "butterflies" all we got was yucky moths, but for all intensive purposes he thinks they're butterflies :) so he's pretty happy!

Did they turn into cocoons? We tried catching a few and they didn't like the leaves we had or something so I let them go before they died.

Unfortunately, they didn't make it. They did turn into cocoons, but they never turned into butterflys or moths. We took them out of the bug catcher a couple of days ago.
