We had never had the carpets cleaned in our house, and we decided that they were definitely past due for a cleaning. We got a recommendation from some friends for a man who runs his own business who was very reasonably priced. We scheduled it, and then got up early to move furniture. We wanted him to be able to get to as much as possible, so we moved almost everything.
This is looking into our bathroom. Our mattress and box springs are in there, as well as the bed frame.
This is our room with our dresser and desks on furniture movers.
The living room was clear of pretty much everything, so the kids enjoyed running around.
After he finished, we had a picnic in the living room.
He said that with the exception of our bedroom (where Misty sleeps), the carpets were actually really clean. Our bedroom is always the last to be cleaned and is really high traffic, so it was pretty dirty. It was pretty chaotic for a few days until we got everything back to where it belonged, but we are really glad we did it.

I didn't know you guys did that! Way to go! No small undertaking. And as much as you hate to vacuum, you must be doing something right to have clean carpets throughout the house!
