We returned from a 4 day trip to Louisiana on Sunday night. We didn’t pick up Misty (the dog) until Monday morning. I let her outside, and then went to check on her a minute later, and saw a tiny bunny running from her. I called her off, and saw a nest with 2 more bunnies in it right up against the house. When Jon came home yesterday, he counted 4 babies. They had moved from their nest. Tonight, the mother bunny came into the yard. I hadn’t seen the babies all day, but 3 of them came out right by our deck and the mother nursed them.
You can see 2 of the bunnies in the nest here:
. . .and here, up close:
I couldn’t get a good picture through the window, but this is the mother bunny feeding the 3 babies.
We’re hoping that they can survive the dangers of proximity to one large dog and 4 humans.
