A big day

A few weeks ago, I took Ainsley to school on a Friday so she could see the fire truck. The fire department graciously came and gave a talk to the kids. They also showed them all their gear and equipment. One firefighter put his full gear on--even breathing with his oxygen tank to show the kids. This is to help them to not be afraid of or hide from a fireman if there is a fire. I'm sure that is a difficult lesson to teach, but hopefully some of what the kids learned will sink in.

After the fireman were done, I whisked Ainsley and Asher off to pick up Jon from work. The Arkansas State Fair was having free admission for the morning for anyone bringing kids. We went and picked up Jon from work and headed over there. The rides were free until noon. The kids both rode on the carousel. Ainsley really liked it. Asher took awhile to decide, but then looked at us with a distressed look and said, "Help!"

Ainsley also got to ride a little train. That was really all we had time for because the lines were really long. Apparently we aren't the only ones who like free things!
After that, we went to look at all the animals. I think the kids liked that part. I was a little embarrassed when I told Ainsley to come look at the llama. A young man (one of the exhibitors) heard me and told me that they weren't llamas! Even more humiliating, I had never heard of (and still can't remember) what the animal actually was! I think he was probably thinking "city slicker"!
The kids were really tired, but it was a good day.
