Our internet was out for 20 days! And before anyone chuckles at me for keeping track of how many days--just think what you would do! Someone asked me the other day what we were doing with our time. I told them hitting "Refresh". :-) Internet is one way I keep in touch with people, I read my friends' blogs, I print coupons, look up addresses and phone numbers, I track our finances (this is a biggie--almost 3 weeks is a long time to go without Mvelopes!). Plus, Jon and I just signed up for Netflix (thanks, Sarah!), and they just started unlimited streaming time. We like to get a movie, watch it, and then watch online while we wait for our next movie. All that to say--we're glad to be back! Be looking for some pics in the next few days.
PS We would still be out of internet if it weren't for Jon! Thanks, Jon!

Does Mvelopes allow you to split a transaction, say from Wal-mart, into various envelopes? I encounter split transactions pretty commonly.
Mvelopes does allow you to split transactions, but you have to do calculations manually and enter the totals. I prefer to be able to calculate right in the cell like in Microsoft Money.
Just out of curiosity, how do you allocate sales tax when you have a split transaction?
I actually add up all the items in each category and just multiply by 1.08. It isn't perfect but it is more accurate than excluding. I usually break out the non-grocery items first, charge the appropriate sales tax then allocate the remainder of the receipt to groceries. The reduced grocery tax works out (mostly) correctly that way.
I would be nice if the software had a split option at the downloaded transactions page. I do wish the program was a stand-alone that didn't require internet to use it. Maybe that will come later.
