Well, this post was originally going to be about our neat new gadget. Unfortunately, I now have to include a major mommy screw up story. It all started when . . .
Ainsley was getting tired of sitting in the booster seat we keep at the table. She wanted a "big girl" chair, and I can't say I blame her--she did just turn 4. We had the dilemma of what to get for her to sit on since she can't comfortably reach the table in a regular chair. I almost bought a Cooshie Hybak booster seat, but at the last minute I came across this.
It seemed like the perfect solution, so I got one. Everything was working well until Super Bowl Sunday. We were sitting at the table eating lunch when I noticed that Ainsley's chair wasn't pushed up to the table all the way. Since I usually spend my lunch getting out of my chair about 50 times to get whatever is needed for the kids, I tried to take a shortcut and move the chair with my foot. I was careful not to pull on the front leg. I didn't think about the back leg. It stuck to the floor and came off the chair leg. Or so I reasoned later. It all happened really fast. There was a loud snap and Ainsley and her chair went toppling over backward. Jon and I tried to catch her, but only succeeded in keeping her from hitting the floor. She hit the chair really hard.
I snatched her up and held her for awhile (she was scared stiff because she never saw it coming). She got a big knot on the back of her head. And then she says, "Mommy, my tooth feels funny." Sure enough, she has a chip in the corner of her baby tooth.
Nothing makes a mom feel lower than hurting her own child, especially from being lazy! Ainsley seems to be doing fine now (2 weeks later!) She goes to the dentist this Friday for a cleaning, and they are going to examine the teeth to make sure nothing is wrong that we can't see ourselves. Then we wait for a few years for the evidence to fall out and the new teeth to come in. :-)
So, officially, I am still undecided about how much I like the Kaboost. Used properly, it isn't dangerous. I do think maybe they could put some sort of a lock on the legs for after you snap it on the chair. Mostly my issue with it is that she has to sit pretty far forward in the chair to eat, so she has no back support.

Don't feel too bad--it could have happened to anybody! What a cool gadget, though. I've never seen anything like that!
