We went to Wild River Country twice this week. We have season passes, but this is the first time we have been able to find time and energy to get there this season. I took the kids by myself on Thursday. I didn't bring the camera because it is too hard to keep track of valuables at the park (2 years ago I saw a car that was broken into even though it was parked very near the ticket booth). The kids wore their SPF swimsuits and hats and lots of sunscreen. There is a Tad Pool toddler play area, which is where we spent most of our time. Asher absolutely loved the water! He got a face full twice, but it didn't phase him. We floated around the Driftin' River--I walked, the kids floated. That was the hardest part for me--keeping track of both of them on the river.
On Saturday, all of us went, and joined a friend's family there. The two girls played together nicely. With Jon there, we each could focus on one kid at a time. That made things much easier for me. We went to the wave pool when it was making the big waves. I asked Asher if he liked the waves. He waved at me. :-) I guess I will take that as a yes.
We went down a short tube ride called Sidewinder. Ainsley liked it this time. 2 years ago she got spooked from a slip at the end and wouldn't go near it again. Sometimes it is a good thing when they can't remember.
The kids really had a great time--I was pleased with how much Asher enjoyed the water. There is a small geyser in the kid's area. He liked to touch it, and he also put his leg over it and sat on it! It was cute.
You can see the different attractions at the park here. Believe it or not, 2 years ago, I actually went on all of them! Even the big toilet bowl--I mean Vertigo! Michelle is my witness, although I think she almost changed her mind about going on herself when she saw how fast I came out of the pipe! My favorite ride is Pipeline--a tube ride.
I am thinking of planning a girl's night out to the water park sometime (hint, hint to any of you who want to go--this is on the horizon!) We can get those without a season pass in for a much reduced rate for "night water", which starts at 3 PM.
