First day of school

Ainsley went to her first day of Montessori school this week. The other children started last week, but we were in CT (who knew school started so early here? :-) ) The school is five days a week, but I plan to send her 3--Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. This week, she is going Monday through Thursday to help her get acclimated since the other kids had a head start on getting used to the routines. I have been increasingly excited for her to start, sure that I had made the right decision to start her here instead of mother's day out once a week.
On Monday, when her teacher brought her to the car, she told me that Ainsley had a good first day. I was anxious to hear about it. While I buckled her into her car seat, she said that she wanted a snack. I said that we would eat lunch as soon as we got home (it was about 11:30). She started crying and proceeded to tell me:
"Snack time was too short!"
"I was still hungry and thirsty after snack time!"
"They didn't have milk!"
"Cookies aren't a snack, they are a treat!"
"The playground was too small!"
"I didn't get to swing high!"
"I didn't get to write my name!"
Around this time, I was wondering what I had done, putting her into school. But I decided that the things that she was telling me about were more adjustment things than actual problems. I talked to one of her teachers, who explained the procedure for snacktime and when they might start writing their name. A few minutes after Ainsley unloaded all the complaints, she was fine. She seemed to look forward to going back, or at least feel comfortable with it. We will see how things go. My gut feeling is that she is going to like going here. Also, Tuesdays, Asher will go to a mother's day out program, and she will have me to herself on those mornings. I think that will help, too.
