Trip to Grandma and Grandpa's house (Part 1)

We just got back from a trip to my parent's house in CT. We flew up as a family on August 15th. We had to take off at 6 AM, so the kids had to be up early. Everything went mostly smoothly on the flights. The only thing we had trouble with was a mechanical problem on one of the planes that caused us to have to get off and switch planes. No big deal, though, and I am glad to not fly on a plane with mechanical trouble! We were late landing as a result. We put the kids down for their naps as soon as we ate something. That evening, Mom and Sarah watched the kids for us so we could go to Wednesday evening services. It always feels strange to only have to carry my stuff--no diaper bag! That night was when we decided that Ainsley probably had staph.
Mom and Dad have a garden, and we were there at prime time this year--many times we are too early. We had corn on the cob (Ainsley's favorite), zucchini & tomatoes (both my favorites), yellow squash, green beans, peppers, onions, purple potatoes, blackberries, and a few strawberries. The potatoes were interesting--purple all the way through. We had veggies from the garden every day we were there. Ainsley helped to pick, husk, and clean.

Asher in the yard
Asher had a lot of fun running around the yard. The weather was really nice and there are nice flat sections of the yard, so he really got a chance to explore. That was good, because inside was a different story! He tried sticking his fingers in the outlets, touching the computer, climbing the stairs, climbing on the furniture, eating marbles (eek!), and you name it, he tried it!
A couple times we went to the elementary school and played on the playscape.

Here is a shot of the kids on the wishing well. This is kind of a tradition in our family. I thought this shot turned out pretty well (forgot to take Asher's helmet off, but oh, well.)
I am going to end this here--I have more to say, but I am getting tired. Plus, putting so many pictures on one post requires a lot of adjusting to the formatting, so Part 2 will come later.
