Helmet check

I took Asher in today for his monthly appointment at Arkansas Children's Hospital rehab. They check his helmet and do measurements to mark his progress. The spot that is flat is the back left side of his head. When they first measured him the measurement from front right to back left was 14 cm, and the measurement from front left to back right was 15 cm. You can't really tell too much from the measurements, because visually you could definitely see the affected area, but they do give some objective measure of progress. The measurements today were 14.7 cm and 15 cm. So things are moving in the right direction. Also, his ears have "straightened" out and it has helped his jaw align correctly, hopefully eliminating future problems. I was hoping that the helmet would correct the flat spot at least to the point where if we brought Asher in that day to be evaluated for a helmet, the prognosis would be that he wouldn't need it. The prosthetist seemed to think we reached that point today. You have to look much more closely to see the flat spot now. We have an appointment for another check on October first, when we will do serious consideration on whether to continue the treatment, or consider it done.
As a side note, since Ainsley was in school today, I skipped the stroller and just carried Asher to the building, then let him walk. Usually he has to ride in the stroller because I can't do both of them walking for that long. Asher had a ball being able to explore. He is also much more steady on his feet then the last time we were at ACH. They have a great lobby with a waterfall and stationary puzzles and toys, and he walked all over. They also have a little outdoor area with some things to climb on.
